Leading healthcare company B. Braun Medical Ltd has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.
The company, which has its UK headquarters in Sheffield, has been shortlisted at the 2011 Employee Benefits Awards in the ‘Most Effective Benefits Communications Strategy for Employers with fewer than 5,000 UK staff’ category.
The awards, now in their ninth year, are designed to recognise and reward those employers who have made a significant difference to their organisations through their reward strategies.
B. Braun is shortlisted for its effective and innovative approach to benefits communication and how it demonstrates compensation and benefits best practice.
In November 2010, the company launched a scheme to increase staff awareness of their benefits and bring communication of these benefits in line with corporate communication.
The scheme, know as ‘essence’, was marketed across the company using a variety of channels, including an official launch event, branded marketing material and an online information portal.
Alex Bailey, Remuneration Manager at B. Braun in the UK, said: “We are delighted to be recognised at the prestigious Employee Benefits Awards. Our primary focus when establishing the communication strategy was for employees to build an association between the value of their benefit provision and the employees sense of what working at B. Braun is about.
“Our benefits strategy is focused on maximising value without compromising cover. Legislation surrounding employee benefits is changing all the time and we need to ensure that we have a brand that employees recognise and trust. Engagement is a critical way of achieving this.
The communication initiative was also used to launch the introduction of the company’s Pension Salary Exchange scheme, which is an efficient way of making pension contributions.
Over the last few years, B. Braun has introduced many flexible working initiatives and taken advantage of tax efficient benefits, which were introduced mainly as a result of employee feedback.
The Employee Benefits Awards are taking place on 9 June at the Royal Artillery Gardens in London.
