B. Braun Chairman recognised for ‘contribution to Sheffield’ by Chamber

Group Chairman and Chief Executive at B. Braun Medical Ltd, Hans Hux, has been recognised for his ‘contribution to Sheffield’ with an award from the Sheffield Chamber.

The Hall of Fame Award recognises the city’s supporters from both the community and business sectors.

Hans was presented with the award in front of more than 300 people at the Chamber President’s Annual Dinner – one of the body’s flagship events.

Chamber President and CEO of Pressure Technologies, John Hayward, commented: “B. Braun has been a leading organisation in Sheffield for many years, they set an example of how a business needs to constantly re-invent itself to stay relevant and competitive in this changing international world.

“Hans’ dedication to staff welfare, to research and development and to ongoing investment has been exemplary. He is a massive contributor to the wider city, an ex-president of Sheffield Chamber and a proud supporter of the Sheffield Sharks.”

Hans Hux moved from his native Tuttlingen, Germany, to Sheffield in 1993, following eight years in Tokyo. At the time, Hans worked for Aesculap – a medical device company which started manufacturing cutlery back in the 1800s and later became renowned for manufacturing high end surgical instruments and equipment.

Initially MD of Aesculap, when the company merged with B. Braun Medical Ltd Hans became Chairman and Group Chief Executive of the expanded organisation.

In his role at B. Braun, Hans has developed numerous growth areas for the company including safe infusion technology, homecare, endosurgery, high-end 3D visualisation, disinfection and home haemodialysis.

Importantly, he has also driven the B. Healthy B. Braun campaign which aims to tackle health and wellbeing issues in the workplace and local community. The campaign was recently recognised by the Royal Society for Public Health at its Health and Wellbeing Awards.

Under Hans’ leadership, the business is an Investors in People Gold Champion and is involved in many local initiatives to help the South Yorkshire community.

The DBL Sharks Sheffield also recently awarded the highest honour the club can offer to Hans, naming him Life Vice President. He was presented the award in front of 150 players, sponsors, and fans of the Sharks at the club’s annual awards dinner alongside Yuri Matischen of MLS Sports, who also received the honour.

Hans said: “I am honoured to have been recognised with this award. We feel passionately about supporting our staff and community as much as possible. This award means a lot and is foremost a recognition to the wonderful people working at B. Braun, dedicated to improving the health of people around the world. It also offers a platform for us to build even more on the work we are doing.”

This year’s President’s Dinner was held at Cutlers Hall and speakers included Sheffield Mayor Dan Jarvis MBE MP and Colonel Andy Hadfield, deputy commander of 4th infantry brigade and headquarters North East.
