Celebrations of Steel with Company of Cutlers honour!

B. Braun Medical Ltd swapped the greetings card for a certificate with an official seal – after arranging for a Divisional Director to become a Freeman of The Company of Cutlers after over 25 years service.

To mark the milestone occasion, Sheffield-based B. Braun organised with the Master Cutler for Paul Steel to become a Freeman of The Company of Cutlers of Hallamshire for the County of York, his home city.

Paul – Director of Aesculap Academia, B. Braun’s education and training arm and Marketing Communication Team – was presented with his certificate, featuring the official seal with cross daggers signifying cutlery, by Master Cutler Kenneth Cooke who visited the medical company’s Thorncliffe Park headquarters.

The Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire was established in 1624 to maintain the standards and quality of Sheffield manufactured cutlery and steel products, as well as promote the interests of the manufacturing industry in the Sheffield City Region, with its Freemen described as ‘part of the life blood of the Company and essential to this purpose’.

B. Braun Medical Ltd Chairman and Group Chief Executive Hans Hux said: “We wanted to do something very special to mark Paul’s milestone achievement”

“Paul joined B. Braun over 25 years ago and has done a terrific job as director for not only Aesculap Academia but for our Implant Systems division also, overseeing developments including an ever-expanding portfolio of products and premium quality courses accredited by medical societies, international medical associations and the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Standards Office.

As part of the global B. Braun group, B. Braun in the UK is a leader in key market areas including computer navigated orthopaedic surgery, needle safety technology, surgical instrumentation, sterile technology and disinfection and hygiene.
