The B. Braun Space® range has developed into an established provider of infusion solutions across the UK since its launch. B. Braun Space® was developed to deliver a full infusion range focussed on supporting hospitals with standardisation and reducing medication errors.
With Spaceplus, we have retained this focus on patient safety whilst providing a platform that aligns closely with the NHS strategy of embracing digital solutions to improve patient care and outcomes.
The knowledge and experience gained from working alongside the NHS with the Space® infusion range has informed the development of Spaceplus, resulting in a product developed with our customers’ needs put at the forefront.
Progressive
Colour Touch Screen
The Spaceplus user interface has been designed to best utilise its colour touchscreen display. The high-resolution colour display supports a wide viewing angle with strong contrast, helping users in quickly and accurately understanding the information displayed anywhere at the bedside.
The colour touch screen interface features include:
- Clear colour coded alarms that include supplementary alarm information
- Drug colour coding to aid identification of the infusing drug
- Intelligent Keyboard search function for efficient drug selection
- Real time syringe graphic shown on run screen
- Configurable VTBI pre-sets to support easy programming of infusions
The resistive touch display technology guards against unintentional changes to the infusion parameters during infusions and enables operation with wet gloves.
Connectivity
Spaceplus has integrated WIFI connectivity that can be utilised for drug library management, asset management and 3rd party integration projects such as EPR’s. The ability to facilitate data buffering ensures data is captured even when connection is lost.
Medication Safety Software
B. Braun Spaceplus introduces new safety features within its DoseGuard drug library software such as Titration Guard, Concentration Guard and Weight Guard to support reductions in medication errors.
Accuracy
Spaceplus infusion devices have superior mechanical drive technology that enables optimised start-up characteristics and delivery accuracy, even at low flow rates. Accuracy rates achieved:
- Spaceplus Infusomat: +/- 3%
- Spaceplus Perfusor: +/-2%
Flexible system
The Spaceplus range supports the flexible use of infusion devices across the hospital.
Pole clamps can be used to fix up to 3 pumps per clamp to a drip stand. The integrated carry handle supports the easy transportation of up to 3 stacked pumps.
Spaceplus infusion devices have long lasting Lithium-Ion batteries that can be charged to 80% in 2 hours.
A modular docking station system enables the easy and tool-free connection of up to 6 stations. This enables the flexibility of having a between 4 and 24 infusion pumps docked into one system. The stations facilitate the centralisation of alarms to reduce noise, and the compact design saves space at the bedside. All pumps within a docking station can be powered by one power cable.
Robust
The innovative Spaceplus design achieves an IP44 rating by reducing open connectors that are prone to corrosion. This supports the ease of routine tasks like cleaning and disinfection with increased fluid ingress protection.
Spaceplus is built with a rigid construction and reinforced drive components to protect against accidental damage.
