B. Braun supports major new Expert Advisory Network with the Royal College of Surgeons of England

Leading healthcare company B. Braun Medical Ltd has further developed its support with the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS England) becoming the major supporter of a new research group for innovation in surgical education.

The Expert Advisory Network is an exciting initiative developed by RCS England to help shape its future learning agenda. It aims to bring together professionals, from clinical and non-clinical backgrounds, who have a special interest in technology, research, innovation or education.

Brian Chapman, Professional and Clinical Relationships Manager at B. Braun Medical Ltd, said: “We have been involved with the College for more than 20 years and have built a relationship we are very proud of, including supporting the previous Clinical Director of Education and Professor of Surgical Education roles.

“I have been involved with the development of the Expert Advisory Network project from its inception. It fits in very closely with B. Braun’s strategy of partnership and our ethos of sharing expertise, and so we are delighted to be collaborating with, and supporting the College on this exciting new initiative.”

The new Network will give members the chance to discuss the latest research across industries on topics such as immersive learning technologies and environments, and to give advice on education, training and clinical practice.

The added value of immersive spaces for teaching and learning is high on the Network’s agenda as a new, state-of-the-art Professional Surgical Centre is being built as part of the transformation of the College building in Lincoln’s Inn Fields.

Mr Richard Kerr, RCS England council member and co-chair of the Expert Advisory Network, said: “Collaborating with other industries and exploring successes and failures will help us move forward in progressing education, technology and innovation within surgery. We will work together to develop and deliver a shared vision for the future of surgical education.

“The Network will directly feed into the development of future courses and training programmes, and assist us in teaching surgeons and surgical teams of the future the skills necessary to embrace change and stay at the forefront of advances to the profession.”
