Did you know that every injury, burn, or surgical incision which affects the deeper layers of the skin will result in formation of scar tissue?
Once the wound is closed, a complex reconstruction process continues in the deeper layers of the skin.
During this re-modeling phase, the scar evolution can be positively influenced simply by using self adhesive soft silicone sheets like Askina® Scar Repair.
Silicone sheets are the only non-invasive preventive and therapeutic measure with enough supporting data to make evidence-based recommendations. (1)
- Easy and simple to use:
Askina® Scar Repair should be worn 24 hours a day and removed once a day when showering or bathing to inspect and wash the skin. The dressing itself does not need to be washed.
Under normal conditions the same Askina® Scar Repair can be used for 3 to 7 days or until the adhesive properties are no longer sufficient to keep the dressing in place.
For prevention treatment, Askina® Scar Repair should be used for two to six months, depending on the condition of the scar. (2)
