B. Braun Medical Ltd has enjoyed a long partnership with The Sheffield Sharks and we are delighted that we have now become the naming sponsor, thereby creating The B. Braun Sheffeld Sharks.

The partnership between B. Braun and the Sharks supports the basketball team’s award-winning community projects, which aim to get local youngsters into sport.

B. Healthy - B. Braun is an initiative with the Sheffield Sharks Basketball Club and volunteers from the company, delivering healthy lifestyle messages to 6 - 11 year olds at primary schools within South Yorkshire. The subjects we discuss and educate on are:

- Nutrition and the importance of eating healthily
- Smoking Cessation and reasons NOT to smoke
- Physical Exercise with some Basketball Coaching

By delivering the scheme, we encourage thousands of local school children to take up sport and exercise in South Yorkshire, as well as educating them on the benefits of living an active and healthy lifestyle.

History

The Sharks are one of the most decorated teams in BBL history, boasting 14 different league titles.

Originally formed in 1991 as the Sheffield Forgers (a reference to the city’s history as a major steel manufacturer) the club would be rebranded in 1994 as the Sheffield Sharks and enter the British Basketball League. They would go on to dominate the league in their rookie season, finishing with a 29–7 league record, and taking home the BBL League Championship and National Cup. They have continue their winning ways for nearly 30 years..
