Modern production facilities with quality made in Germany

AESCULAP^®implants are produced in one of the most modern and environmentally friendly implant manufacturing facilities in Europe. Our Benchmark Factory stands for new production technologies (robots, packaging machines, CNC machines), German quality in materials, processes and a skilled working force.

Innovative technology meets experience and expertise

Experience in 3D manufacturing technology since 1983 and in orthopaedics since 1999 brought us deep knowledge and expertise in that field. The production of a lattice structure for good bone ingrowth and the ability to produce individual designs for custom implants, are just two of the advantages of this technology.

Advanced materials

Materials play a very important role, especially in joint replacement where wear, abrasion and grip are key words. Our motivation has always been to achieve better outcomes. Balancing of parameters is essential for our success to find or develop the best suitable material for our implants. With technologies like the AS Advanced Surface or the Structan® titanium structure, we show our high grade of innovation and the tremendous progress that the development of materials has made in the last decades.

Plasmapore®

The cementless Plasmapore® implants are coated with a layer of fine titanium. The pore sizes range from 50 to 200 μm with a microporosity of 35% and a thickness of 0.35 mm. These characteristics are optimal for bone ingrowth.

AS Technology

This patented technology is available for all of our knee implant systems. The outstanding AS layer architecture makes the prosthesis hard, scratch resistant, reduces wear and the ion release below the detection level.

PEEK

The axis bearings of our EnduRo hinge knee system are made of carbon fibre reinforced PEEK. It provides superior mechanical properties in comparison to PE and we were able to reduce wear by 82% to only 0.21 mm³/mio. cycles.

Vitelene®

Thanks to its excellent wear and oxidation resistance as well as balanced mechanical properties, Vitelene® represents the latest generation of Vitamin E stabilized highly crosslinked polyethylene for hip replacement.

Structan®

The very rough Structan® profile structure is made of a titanium alloy using additive technology. This additive process allows an all-over regular pore size and porosity in a favorable range to stimulate bone ingrowth.

MXE®

MXE is our latest patented PE material in TKA. Vitamin E protects against delamination and a radiation dose below 50 kGy provides mechanical stability. Doubling the shelf life to 10 years is a great success for the logistics.
