Regional Anaesthesia Training Programme
Our BLOCKED Programme, delivered through the Aesculap Academy and proudly supported by B. Braun UK, is a nationally recognised initiative providing regional anaesthesia (RA) training and ultrasound‑guided block education across the UK. Our purpose is clear: to empower healthcare professionals with accessible, high‑quality education, supporting lifelong learning and improved patient outcomes.

A new addition for 2026, designed to bridge the gap between entry‑level and advanced RA skills. This course features ultrasound‑guided regional anaesthesia training, live models and phantoms to deliver a high‑quality learning experience without cadaveric stations, making it more accessible and cost‑effective. Delegates benefit from structured scanning practice, guided needling techniques, and interactive sessions focused on sonoanatomy interpretation. Ideal for clinicians progressing beyond foundational skills in a practical, interactive environment.

Designed exclusively for consultant anaesthetists, this course provides a supportive, safe learning environment in which every delegate receives dedicated 1:1 practical teaching from an expert consultant regional anaesthesia faculty. Before attending, delegates identify the Plan A blocks and other aspects of regional anaesthesia in which they would most value additional experience. The faculty then tailor the content and pace to each delegate’s existing skills, confidence, job plan and clinical practice. All respondents to course evaluations have said that they would recommend it to their colleagues.

Designed for anaesthetists of all grades, this regional anaesthesia ultrasound scanning course combines expert-led teaching with extensive hands-on learning. Delivered in collaboration with B. Braun Medical Ltd, the programme provides a practical introduction to, and further development of, ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia skills.
The course features large-group sonoanatomy demonstrations, small-group ultrasound scanning workshops with a maximum of three delegates per station, needling technique and visualisation practice, and interactive cadaveric anatomy sessions. Delegates will gain valuable experience identifying key anatomical structures, relating cadaveric anatomy to ultrasound imaging and practising techniques commonly used in regional anaesthesia.

Further details will be announced in due course. For now, BLOCKED Intermediate remains the ideal next step for those building confidence beyond foundational skills.

Each event has limited capacity, so we advise booking early to avoid disappointment.
The programmes consist of live model scanning and/or cadaveric workshops, so it is important you come prepared for this.
During the course you will be split into groups based on your level of expertise so you must declare this at the point of registration so we can tailor your learning.
All courses are CPD-accredited by the Royal College of Anaesthetists and a certificate of attendance will be provided post-event.
